Films: Son of Godzilla (1967), All Monsters Attack (1969)
Alias: Gimantis, G-Mantide, Kamakilas, Kamakiras
Type: Mutant
Location: Jungle
Height/Weight: 50 meters and 2,800 metric tons.
Affiliation: Neutral
Summary: Mothra isn't the only one with a potential obsession with giant bugzappers in the world of kaiju. Insect kaiju are common, and the most numerous are the Kamacurai, giant mantises with a taste for man and beast alike.
History: On Solgell Island, weather experiments were being conducted. However, Godzilla had been sighted near there, and the island was already inhabited by man-sized mantises. Cue the experiments, and the bugs mutate into giants almost as big as the monster king. Now a major threat, the Kamacurai see nothing more than a desire to eat all they encounter, even if it's one of Godzilla's kind.
Notable Kills: None.
Final Fate: Two of three Kamacurai are killed by Godzilla (one by atomic breath, another via getting slammed on the ground one too many times), while the other gets ensnared and eaten by Kumonga.
Powers/Abilities: None.
Weakness: A being of equal or greater strength, like Godzilla.
Scariness Factor: 3.5-Kamacuras is not the most powerful kaiju, but it sure is hideous. Imagine a crimson-red mantis with what looks like a toothy skull for a head and you have the right idea.
Trivia: -The Kamacurai were puppets held by piano wires behind the scenes.
-The largest known mantis is the Giant Asian Mantis, which can grow up to about ten centimeters long.
